Exciting news!  For those who’ve been wanting to buy a wonder oven pre-made, Joyce from Prepared in Every Way.com (who’s blogged, authored and been involved with preparedness podcasting for many years) has now begun making and selling Wonder Ovens full time.  I’m so excited that she’s decided to take this project on for all the rest of us!  You can find her at My Wonder Oven.com (love that name, btw!).

To kick off this new adventure, she’s giving away this very cute October “pumpkin” of a Wonder Oven!  Details are given below.

**This giveaway is now CLOSED, however please continue to utilize this post for information on where to go to BUY a Wonder Oven**

My Wonder Oven Slow Cooker Giveaway-Oct.24th-29th, 2014 by FoodStorageMoms.com

I don’t think I have to tell my readers how to use a Wonder Oven, or remind you how much I love them.  Been there, done that many times, in fact ever since the blog got started.  However, for anyone who’s curious and “wonder”-ing what they are, I visited a podcast with Jendi at Mom Prepares this month where we talked at length all about them.  You can listen to me rave all about them (once again) by visiting the podcast HERE.

I would like to share with you more about Joyce’s specific product though.  It’s important that you know the quality she’s dedicated to offering.  So, without further ado, here’s a list of her product expectations (given to me to share directly from My Wonder Oven.com)

My Wonder Oven Top Ten Features:

1. 100% Cotton

Cotton/ natural fabric is preferred to synthetic fabrics due to the high temperatures resting on the fabric.  With 100% cotton the fabric won’t melt!

2. Double Stitched

To be sure the Wonder Oven beads stay right where we put them!

3. Filled with 3 mm polystyrene beads

Smaller beads conduct the heat better because there is less air space around them. Bigger is NOT always better.

4. Virgin beads

My Wonder Oven beads have not not been recycled from someone else’s bean bag.

5. Floppy rather than overstuffed

This feature makes it easier to store, and allows you to fit it into a container (which is great when you’re cooking on the go) or wrap it around your food. Go freestyle, baby.

6. Washable

If My Wonder Oven gets soiled, simply wash that area with soap and water and allow to air dry. It’s a good idea to wrap your pot with a towel to avoid spills. A solar blanket also works great to catch spills and reduce condensation.

7. Cook on the road!

Think of it as a non-electric slow cooker.

8. Refrigerate on the road

Great for keeping groceries cool, or even frozen, on the ride home.

9. Made is the USA

Even better, made in TEXAS.

10. Affordable pricing

Because I can purchase the fabric and those 3 mm VIRGIN beads here locally, I can keep the costs down.

  1. Hi,
I recently learned about the “Wonder Oven”. I was very curious and had to make one and try it myself! It worked so well and exceeded my expectations. You almost have to see the results to believe how great it is! It works to cook food by heat retention. You bring the food to a boil for a few minutes on your heat source, then place the pot with lid on in the Wonder Oven where it continues to cook. In a few hours your meal is prepared! After 4 1/2 hours the lid was so hot I had to use a hot pad to check the food. I wrapped the pot in a Mylar emergency blanket to keep the oven clean and retain more heat. I also put something heavy on the top while it was in use.
I made Brown Rice, Split Pea Soup and Steel Cut Oats with Dried Apples all in the first day!! I also tried a 15 bean soup that was fantastic! Yesterday I made a butternut squash soup that was yummy too. They were all amazing and perfectly cooked!!! I know it will save time in the kitchen and be a wonderful preparedness item that will help my fuel go further.
If you are interested or know others who may want one, please pass this along. I will take orders through email…
I offer them for $40 plus shipping. (This is the lowest price I’ve seen.) The shipping seems to be between $8 and $12… I think it will give more people a chance to get one and learn how to use it. It would be great Christmas gifts for friends or family members who need preparedness items.

All the Wonder Ovens are filled with 3mm virgin polystyrene bean bag beads. The tiny beads retain the heat the best.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. (You can email me for pictures. Jenfrandsen@charter.net)

    Thanks,
    Jennifer
