We’re hitting the homestretch! Four weeks left of our challenge and I’ve added a little somethin’ somethin’ to the contest. I think you’re gonna like it.
We’re still going to have our Rafflecopter contest…
We’re still going to have our weekly “points” winner…
But now, as a finale for the last four weeks of the contest, I’ve arranged for a weekly people’s choice contest. That is, that anyone who participates in the main contest (contest rules found here) — no matter the number of recipes you decide to make for the week– is invited to participate. Choose your favorite/best/most “like-probable” recipe from your week’s creations (the recipe you choose has to be one you’ve submitted to me), post a picture of it to the blog’s facebook PAGE and rally for the most number of “LIKES” on it.
The deadline each week for this contest is Friday at midnight (same end time as the Rafflecopter contest), two days after your Wednesday night weekly submissions are due. The one with the most “likes” on their “people’s choice recipe” for the week wins the prize. If we happen to have a tie between two contestants, the winner will be chosen by the number of comments on their post.
So, go for it!! Tell everyone the story behind the recipe you chose to post and WHY all residing in facebook-land should vote for you! Was it the first time you’d ever cooked with food storage? The first time you’d ever tried a certain from scratch recipe? Or maybe it was just a recipe your family really really liked. Post your picture on the facebook page, share it with those you know (keeping it all within the same posting) and ask your friends to “like” your recipe. Fellow MFSC followers will of course drop by the recent posts area there to vote as well. Only one recipe per participant per week on this.
So, to keep everything together for our current week #9, before I introduce to you the “people’s choice” prize, I’m going to introduce the other two prizes you’ve all been used to seeing. For anyone just coming in, I’m going to also give a brief description on each and how to win them.
Our Rafflecopter Prize is a weekly prize given by way of random drawing. The more entries you have, the greater chance you’ll win! To gain maximum entries, this contest’s purpose is to encourage you to PLAN ahead with your food storage cooking and comment on the blog (anywhere is fine) on what you’re planning to make. It’s always a big help (in any goal) to voice what you’re planning to accomplish — this helps to get started and follow through with your cooking goal!
Another big handful of entries is earned after you’ve checked that you have all the ingredients you’ll need (or gone shopping for them), so it’s just that much easier for you to get cooking! There are also some “no cook” entry options, such as liking my facebook page and pinning and tweeting about the contest. Also, this is a repeating weekly prize so each week — if you don’t win– you have a new chance to try for it!
In learning more about the water treatment kit, it’s helpful to understand how this particular product works as opposed to other water purification options on the market. The key is a substance called “bio-film”.
Researchers have estimated that 60-80% of microbial infections in the body are caused by bacteria growing as a bio-film—as opposed to planktonic (free floating) bacteria. In identifying it as a substance, you’d recognize it as the slimy deposit seen within the interior of most any water storage container as well as faucets and pipes. H2O ResQ’s Copper-Silver ion solution works to prevent and prevent reoccurring growth of bio-film in water storage tanks, jugs, quarts, gallons, drums, super tanks, hydration bladders and packs, and rain harvesting tanks. And it’s just that simple, by eliminating “bio-film” and preventing it from growing, water is very simply (and cost effectively) treated.
Thanks to Water Pure Technologies, for our weekly Rafflecopter prize!
Here’s the link for this week’s drawing for this prize. The deadline to enter is Friday April 11th at midnight!
Our weekly contest prize is based off of the number of points earned by each participant in a week. Contest rules and point details are all contained in the main contest description post, but please, if anyone ever has a question on something, don’t hesitate to email me. The contest submissions should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org but my usual everyday email address (for questions) is email@example.com.
All points from each participant’s weekly score (since the very beginning of the contest) have been accumulating for our overall prize winnings which will be awarded at the end.

1 Swing-a-Way Crank Turn Handle can opener
Finally, I get to introduce Week #9’s People’s Choice Contest Prize!!
Old school preppers knew this product as the “Pyromid”. It disappeared off the market for a while to the dismay of many who searched for it, having been so loved by those who owned it that it was said to be the one tangible thing this couple fought over in their divorce. This same article describes it as “… the cleverest, best-cooking portable grill ever. And for a decade or more it’s been half-impossible to get.”
Well, it’s name today is Ecoque and I’m going to tell you a little bit about it. I’m excited to have finally found it! I’m going to be quoting Holly Drennan Deyo’s book “Dare to Prepare”, and what she writes about it, back when it was known as a “Pyromid” on page 327.
“It’s a complete portable cooking system all-in-one. It’s a grill, stove, oven, roaster and smoker. From baking bread to smoking fish to grilling steaks or vertically roasting poultry, the sky is the limit. It’s all stainless steel, offer great flexibility and folds to only 1”.
They’re one of the more efficient stoves because they use only 9 charcoal briquettes. Briquettes cannot be used indoors, but the [Ecoque] burns other solid fuels like twigs, wood chunks, pinecones, or gelled fuel such as Sterno.
The [EcoQue] allows baking with normal pans with an optional oven. It’s easy to clean and diswasher safe.
With the grill accessory you can stir fry, sautee, or cook pancakes, bacon and eggs. The smoker accessory lets you bake bread, steam vegetables and keep food warm for extended periods. “
I’ve literally been waiting years to find this product, having only read about it and never finding out it had been renamed. You can bet I’m going to be ordering myself an Ecoque. However YOU have the chance this week to win it for free!
Thank you Outdoor Chef Store for donating this amazing product!!
This prize offer also gives the winner a choice on which prize choice he/she would like. Both packages represent approximately a $149.00 value!
